Recycling Pickup

Single Stream Recycling

The single-stream system simplifies recycling for our residents by allowing all recyclables, including paper, cardboard, plastic, aluminum, glass, etc., to be placed in a single bin for recycling.

No more time-consuming separation of recyclables, or multiple bins for sorting. A faster, cleaner, and easier way to go green. Now our residents can save space and time while saving the planet.

Beginning April 1, 2023, the City of Long Branch will implement the new system and the recycling schedule will be as follows:

South Zone

  • Mondays - All Recyclables Pickup North of Brighton Avenue
  • Tuesdays - All Recyclables Pickup South of Brighton Avenue

North Zone

  • Thursdays - All Recyclables Pickup North of Joline Avenue
  • Fridays - All Recyclables Pickup South of Joline Avenue to Broadway

Understanding Plastic Recycling Symbols

Remember

  • Recyclable items must not be placed in plastic bags for disposal. The bags cause the machines at the recycling plants to jam, costing these plants time and money to remove them. Please place all commingle items in a reusable container. No bags.
  • Cardboard and newspaper may still be combined and placed at the curb in tied bundles of not more than 50 pounds. No more than 8 bundles of cardboard can be placed on its pickup day.
  • Please do not place paint or other liquid products in cardboard boxes. This damages the cardboard and makes it non-recyclable.
  • Be advised that our Garbage and Recycling trucks will have the same appearance. At times, it may appear they are forgetting to make a pickup, but another truck will follow.
  • The Monmouth County Residents Recycling Guide is a great source of recycling information for Long Branch residents.
