Our File: HLB00503.01

Residents of Long Branch: Please allow this letter to serve as notice that dredging operations are to take place in the portion of Lake Takanassee between Woodgate Avenue and the Rail Road Tracks. The project is expected to remove approximately 16,000 Cubic Yards of accumulated sediment at the bottom of the lake.

Dredging is a necessary task to maintain the health of a lake. The benefits of this work include, but are not limited to improving stormwater detention which decreases flood risk and improving water quality though the removal of nutrient heavy material.

The project can be broken down into two phases. The scope of the first phase includes clearing outlet structures of overgrown vegetation and lowering of the lake. During the lowering process, fish will be salvaged per NJ Fish and Wildlife guidelines. This phase is scheduled to start the week of September 13, 2021 and is expected to be complete by November 15, 2021.

The work involved with Phase 2 of the project includes the dredging of the lake bottom and refilling of the lake. This phase is expected to begin upon the completion of phase 1 and the expected completion date for phase 2 is February 2022.

Please be insured that conducting this operation safe and efficiently is our highest priority. Everything that can be done to minimize impact to residents will be. If any issues should arise during construction, please do not hesitate to contact my office at 732-462-7400 or email mgoldstein@cmeusa1.com.
