Long Branch Receives $2.3 Million in Grants for Road Improvements
LONG BRANCH – City Officials announced over $2.3 Million in grants for road improvements throughout the city.
The following road projects are included in the $2.3 Million in grants:
· NJDOT Municipal Aid FY 2025 – 6th Avenue Improvements, $490,565.00
· NJDOT Safe Streets to Transit FY 2024 – Brighton Avenue, $339,000.00
· NJDOT Municipal Aid FY 2023 – Second Avenue Phase II, $356,101.00
· NJDOT Safe Streets to Transit FY 2023– Westwood Phase II, $774,000.00
· NJDOT Municipal Aid FY 2024 – Long Branch Avenue Phase II, $396,293.00
Since 2018, Long Branch has made significant strides in improving its infrastructure, with over 50 streets receiving upgrades funded by millions in federal and state grants.
“It has been a priority for our administration to aggressively pursue grants, particularly those focused on improving our roads,” Councilmember Mario Vieira said. “These projects include complete overhauls of streetscapes, curbing, and sidewalks.”
This focus on infrastructure is a key part of the administration's commitment to enhancing the quality of life for everyone who lives, works, and visits Long Branch. The newly paved roads not only provide a smoother driving experience but also contribute to the city’s overall beautification. Each year, additional roads are included in the Road Improvement Project, further elevating the city’s appearance and functionality.
“Some of these projects are part of phase two, where we’ve already completed major sections of roads and are now able to finish the work with this new round of funding,” Councilmember Mario Vieira explained. “A prime example is Long Branch Avenue, where we addressed flooding issues three years ago. This phase two work will complete the entire street.”
