Overview
The Long Branch Department of Senior Affairs and Senior Center is the Community focal point dedicated to Long Branch residents 60 years of age and older.
Staying happy and healthy both inside and out means balancing all aspects of your life from social to emotional to physical. we are committed to providing you with quality programs and opportunities to enable you to accomplish this.
Educational Classes
We offer a variety of educational programs to keep your mind active including:
- Arts & Crafts (Crochet/knitting, painting, etc.)
- Book Club
- Ceramics
- Chef Demonstrations
- Computer Classes
- Cultural programs
- Expert panels
- Lunch & Learns
- Sewing
- Social Service Scoop
- “Tech Savvy” cell phone classes
Exercise Classes
We offer a variety of exercise classes to get you moving at a range of fitness levels including:
- Chair Yoga
- Line Dancing
- Mix It Up!
- Strength & Stability
- Tai Chi
Health & Wellness Services
We offer a variety of screenings and other health related services including:
- Blood pressure screenings
- Cholesterol screenings
- Diabetes screenings
- Hearing screenings
Information & Assistance
We offer information and assistance to its member through various resources including:
- Farmer’s Market Vouchers
- Social Worker (Kacie)
- South Jersey Legal Services
- Various brochures and information packets
Intergenerational Opportunities
We offer a variety of opportunities to bring together members of different generations so that they may learn from each other including:
- Cooperative social service projects with Monmouth University classes
- Internships for Monmouth University and other local students
- Musical programs with Anastasia School
- Presentations by Chamberlain University students
- Visits and presentations by Georgian Court nursing students
Social & Recreational Programs
We offer a variety of social and recreational programs designed to give our members time to socialize with friends and make new ones. These programs include:
- Bingo
- Day Trips (Atlantic City, Brownstone, etc.)
- Holiday celebrations
- Social/dances
- Special events
Volunteer Opportunities
We offer you many rewarding opportunities in which to make a difference in the life of a Senior Citizen. With a variety of programs from which to choose, the opportunity to meet new people and establish new friendships, our Center has become a welcome place for many older adults in the community.
