The Fire Marshal's Office is responsible for fire inspections, certificates of occupancy, housing inspections, public education for fire safety, and registration of landscapers. The Office strictly enforces the New Jersey Uniform Fire Code.
The Fire Marshal's Office and the Long Branch Office of Emergency Management operate an Emergency Alert Radio Station at 1620 am. The radio station broadcasts public service messages such as road closings, special events, school closings, and the National Weather Service. Flashing lights are located at three main roads leading into the City and are activated to advise motorists when to tune into 1620 am for important messages and for National Weather Service broadcasts when storm warnings are in effect.
